Lincoln MILFord DorCHESTer Update

Arrrrg!!! Ahoy mates!!! With the impending doom and rough seas for the weekend the crew has decided to postpone the ride. We are bummed to have to but with the chances of snow and freezing temps along with high winds it would be futil. Not fun. Fun is what this is all about. Oh and people to. We want as many as possible to join us for our rides. The route has a bunch of cool dirt roads we want to ride. Not walk. Could we do a re route? Nope. It's not worth it. Talk around the wheel house is a date of May 4th. Hope the weather will do us a solid and we can all calm seas and warm sunshine!!!

The Details

First, we'll meet at PCL shipyard 2659 S11th Lincoln, NE.  Then we ride to Milford for a quick stop. If ya want to head back to Lincoln from here that's totally cool with us. Otherwise we will all head to Dorchester for some lunch at the local wtatering hole.  Its good eats.  Trust us (ummmm, I wouldn't recommend trusting Pirates).  And the views along the route to Dorchester are worth the trip. Curvy roads along the river, wood planked bridges and century old farms. RAD!! The total miles for the whole ride is around 74. Once we make it to Dorchester we are better than half done with the route. We will clip the outskirts of Denton on our return, if ya need something real bad feel free to stop. They have a great C store right in town. (Mill's Squeegee)I think. If ya do stop here remember to return to the route where ya left!

White Elephant

The Pirates have traditionally held a white elephant gift exchange at the end of the ride. If ya want something better bring something to exchange.

Gravel Worlds Registration Details

 

Registration for the 2013 Gravel Worlds will officially open April 1, 2013.  Here are the details.

Starting April Fool's day, send a postcard with your name, hometown, email address, age, sex and category (see below) for the event to:

The categories for the event are:
Open men
Open women
Masters men (50 years of age+)
Masters women (40 years of age+) - Yes, 40 for the women
Single speed men (includes fixed geared bicycles)
Single speed women (includes fixed geared bicycles)
Tandem

Cargo/Fatbike

Field limit?  Maybe...so don't dilly dally.

As a reminder, the adventure is set for Saturday August 24, 2013.  Start time will be 6 AM. The event will start and finish near Lincoln, Nebraska.  More details to follow.

A few quick details:
This is a self supported event - Yes, you are 100% absolutely responsible for you! If you gotta pull the plug on the side of the gravel road, be sure you have someone available to pick you up! The course will NOT be marked. A cue sheet will be distributed prior to the event. All riders are required to have a cyclo computer that can track mileage - Yes, we will verify that you completed the entire distance at the end. Riders (yes, you!) will be required to purchase a Nebraska Powerball Lottery ticket at each "checkpoint" as proof of reaching the checkpoint. The checkpoints will be small town gas station convenience stores. If you need fluids and sustenance, buy it there! The distance will be roughly 150 miles with around 8,000 to 11,000 feet of vertical elevation gain. This is a free event (except the four to five lottery tickets you gotta buy for two bucks). The Golden Rule applies to this event. If someone needs help, stop and help out. As always, we reserve the right to change any and everything whenever we see fit. If we catch anyone not following the rules, you will be disqualified. You have been warned!

2013 Updates!

The 2013 Calendar of events has been updated!  Check out the sidebar with important PCL Event dates including the Sixth Tour of Dirt Roads, the Ponca Ride, and Gravel Worlds. 

Please note that the Ponca Ride will be on a Friday this year.  We'll take off at 4 AM and have breakfast in North Bend at the Corner Cafe.  Camp Friday night, watch/race the Psychopath XC race and camp again Saturday night, then ride back on Sunday (if you choose).  It'll be a fun weekend!

2013 Planning Meeting Wednesday Night...

We're gonna' get together and chat about 2013 events, dates and other pirate stuff tomorrow (Wednesday) night, 7pm, at Yia Yia's, 1423 O Street in downtown Lincoln. There's beer and pizza too...

PCL Kits Have Arrived...

It's a very good day... The big brown UPS truck just dropped off three huge boxes from Voler containing our new PCL kits. I'll be contacting each of you over the next day or two to arrange pick-up or delivery.

ETA of PCL Jerseys...

It sounds like we should have the new PCL jerseys in Lincoln around November 30, as scheduled. For those of you living out of town, I will need to work with you to arrange shipping from Lincoln to you, which will takea few extra days (and a few dollars as well, unless you'd like to pick them up).
